ANTIQUE STONEWARE POT BY GEORGE SKEY OF TAMWORTH

This antique stoneware pot by George Skey of Tamworth is so full of character.  It is a wonderful example of early English widespread production and manufacturing.  This pot would make a sweet little vase or use it for your toothbrush! The mark at the bottom states “Skye 16 Tamworth” and made at Wilnecote Works. This factory was founded in 1860 by George Skey & Co and become notable for its products throughout England. They produced everything from gas stoves to ginger beer bottles.  The company ceased trading in 1936. The pot has a lot of interesting history; we wonder where it started its life and how many hands it has been through.  It is a lovely one!
