About Bordallo Pinheiro
The Portuguese ceramics studio, Bordallo Pinheiro, was established in 1884 by brothers Raphael and Feliciano Bordallo Pinheiro. Many of the studio’s pieces are still crafted according to Raphael’s original designs. Within just twenty-one years, Bordallo Pinheiro’s vibrant and artistic ceramics achieved international acclaim. Raphael drew inspiration from the flora and fauna of his hometown Caldas, as well as from the Renaissance, Art Nouveau, and Naturalism movements.
