We can’t describe how exquisite this painting is and so lifelike; you can really see the concentration on the girl’s face as she tries to read by candlelight.  It has been signed by the artist though we can’t make out who it is; it looks like Renoir…!!!  We wish; its an unknown but can you imagine the joy of the artist painting this atmospheric scene; you really feel drawn into it; it is a real gem.  It is an old one so does show signs of a previous life though they do not detract from its beauty.

It has a wooden frame which has been painted and waxed and really suits the painting.
