This Victorian clay pipe is so well carved with intricate details of a Boar War soldier wearing the famous slouch hat. It has the letters CIV on the side of the hat which means “The City of London Imperial Volunteers” who was a British corps of volunteers during the Second Boer War. Even though it doesn’t have the long pipe for the mouth, the head is in great condition for its age. It really is an interesting piece; his face really draws you in, we can’t stop looking at him. Pop him in a printer’s tray, display on a shelf and enjoy looking at him; he is a real gem; we wonder who he belonged to?
