These Victorian earthenware “Improved Inhalers” are lovely specimens and two of them come with original glass mouthpieces and cork lids. They were invented by Dr Nelson in the mid-1860s, for the treatment of chest infections and inhalation issues. Imagine being prescribed one of these for your ailments!
The transfer-printed advertisement and instructions for use are clearly printed on the front. They have some crazing but this only adds to the character of them. They are very quirky; use them as a vase or we can see them lined up in the bathroom or kitchen; they really do make a lovely display either singly or as a group.
